The following options are available to families to help with the cost of child care.

Child Care Rebate

The Child Care Rebate (CCR) is additional assistance for you and your partner to work, study or have training related purposes, for 15 hours or more per week. CCR covers up to 50% of your out-of-pocket expenses, up to the current annual cap of $7,500 per child. You have the option to receive your CCR paid weekly/fortnightly, to your child care service provider as a fee reduction, or paid directly to your bank account. You also have the option of having your CCR paid quarterly or annually as a lump sum into your bank account.

Child Care Benefit

Child Care Benefit (CCB) reduces the cost of your total child care fees. It is available to parents, foster parents, or grandparents with a child who is attending an approved child care service. There are eligibility requirements that you must meet to receive CCB. Child Care Benefit is linked to your child’s immunisation status and it is your responsibility to keep this up-to-date, otherwise it may be cancelled.

Jobs, Education and Training (JET) Child Care Fee Assistance

JET Child Care Fee Assistance provides extra help if you are a parent on an income support payment and looking for work, studying or starting a job. It will cover most of your child care costs. It runs for 24 months. Please note the centre is unable to process your JET without a copy of your approval letter.
